Lesson 1a

Lesson 1a
World Book Kids vs. World Book Students
When researching a mammal in World Book Kids versus World Book Students I found that Kids version had minimal information but enough for a young learner to understand what the animal looked like and their basic needs.  World Book Students had more in depth information about the animals needs, where they live, different physical characteristics of the animal etc. Both World Books had great videos and pictures for our visual learners.  As a first grade teacher I can see myself utilizing World Book Kids.
World Book Advanced
World Book Advanced has an abundance of great information. As a primary teacher the most valuable information for my students would be pictures, videos, animations, and some of the websites.  I feel like this World Book is directed more for upper elementary and older students.
World Book Discover
This is a great source for minimal information.  I like that you can go to other World Books to get more in-depth information.  This source has a read-aloud toolbar which will be great for my young learners that don't read at that level yet.  The read-aloud toolbar would also be good for ESL students.

  1. Hi, Amanda, welcome aboard the Challenge, and thanks for your observations. Please note that ALL World Book modules have a read-aloud feature, so your first graders can enjoy that feature in Kids, too. Try out some of the special features in Kids--your students will love learning with them!
